Lineworks provided full architectural and engineering services for the complete interior/exterior restoration and renovation of the Chestnut Street Firehouse in the Ironbound District of Newark. A thorough building survey, including selective structural probing and masonry analysis, was performed prior to defining a scope of work for restoring exterior brick, limestone, granite and bluestone. Masonry materials were then repaired or replaced as required, and walls were cleaned and repointed. Windows and doors were replaced. The main roof and hose tower roof were replaced with a fluid-applied polyester resin-based waterproofing and roofing membrane. Asbestos containing materials, lead based paints and universal waste products were identified early on and were removed. Designated as eligible for listing on The National Register of Historical Places by The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), all work was performed with nomination in mind.
